The Yule Log or the zocco di Natale is a tradition that dates back to the 11th-12th centuries. It arrived from northern Europe, but quickly integrated into Italy, the Balkans and the Iberian Peninsula, where he has become today the Tió de Nadal. The custom is to separate a particularly thick trunk that is burned on Christmas Eve, what the father did in a ritual of good auspices.
