This is a romantic movie filmed in Florence, and it was inspired by a 1908 novel by E. M. Forster, an English Writer. James Ivory directed this movie, and some of the locations used in the movie include the Church of Santa Croce, Piazza Santissima Annunziata, and Piazza Della Signoria. The accommodation used by the protagonists is in a place known as “Pensione Bertolini”; this place was a guesthouse that time, and it was known as Quisisana e Pontevecchio. The guesthouse closed in the 1990s. Lucy Honeychurch and Charlotte Bartlett (her chaperon) arrive in Florence, and they were disturbed simply because they do not have a room with a view.
