Mexico is the home of Soap Opera. Soap Opera debuted in the country during the mid 20th century. Over time, more than a thousand soap operas have debuted in this country. The story lines are usually similar, revolving around love and betrayal but very intriguing. Mexican soap operas have become cultural paradigms throughout Latin America and much of the world. But which have been the best? Since the Mexican Telesystem launched “Senda Prohibida”, the first Mexican soap opera, there have been hundreds of soap operas produced by companies such as the Canal de las Estrellas or TV Azteca. Then, a review of what have been the best throughout history. Like any list, this is arbitrary. But we hope to approach the truth based not only on the tastes of the people but also on the cultural significance of the stories and the opinion of specialized critics. Reach a Star (1990). This youth soap opera starring Eduardo Capetillo and Mariana Garza reached international relevance. All perhaps because of its simple eloquent plot: an innocent young woman falls in love with the actor and singer of the moment. Wild Rose (1987) Verónica Castro and Guillermo Capetillo starred in a simple story that, however, captivated the public. An uneducated young woman and a rich boy fall in love, the rest is obvious. Maria from the block (1995). From here to which the public most remembers is the villain, Soraya Montenegro, who was obsessed with making life impossible for Mary at levels only seen in the history of Snow White and the Evil Queen. Although it was based on another soap opera: “The rich also cry” (1979), it was so successful that it was seen in about 180 countries.
