A place full of life.Tetsugaku-no-Michi (Path of Philosophy) started to  built at the end of the 19th century until 1912, and was called the “Writer’s Walk” dedicated to Ikutoro Nishida, a professor at the University of Kyoto, at the time who was walking along the canal for to refresh his thoughts, from where the street began to be called Tetsugaku-no-Michi (Path of Philosophy). This is a narrow cherry-lined pedestrian path that follows the canal that supplies Biwa Lake water starting at Ginkaku-ji Temple (the Silver Pavilion) near the Kumano-Nyakuoji Shrine and is considered one of the most visited roads by guests for its amazing beauty especially during the flowering period.
