Chefchaouen is a holy city located in the middle of the Rif mountains. It was founded in 1471 from a Berber settlement and until 1920 it was a forbidden place for non-Muslims. Luckily, now people of all faiths can enjoy their wonderful blue medina surrounded by nature. Now, some 40,000 people live in Chefchaouen, most of them in the most modern part of the city. Its streets are a fairy tale to behold! They are a fairy tale in my opinion because they are one of the rare beauties in the world created in support of the prejudice and faith inherited from generation to generation of people who lived there, inspiring themselves for the future. There is much talk about the blue color of Chefchaouen, and the truth is not yet known, but whatever it is, they are a belief in a better future. Chefchaouen, a strange city located northwest of Morocco in the Rif Mountains was unknown but thanks to internet advertising that increased the curiosity of the guests to discover, to explore this rare beauty from nearby, which has led to the growth of the flow of visitors. I was impressed by the labyrinth of narrow streets through blue houses where you could easily get lost. Local handicrafts, multi-colored flower pots hanging on the blue walls of shops, locals dressed in traditional clothes and large numbers of tourists created a lively festive setting on the blue streets of Chefchaouen. It is rumored that here you can find things you cannot find in other areas of Morocco, especially handicrafts and livestock products. Chefchaouen or the “Moroccan Blue Pearl” has many other attractions for guests. In addition to hiking in the labyrinths of the city, hiking the mountain around the city giving you the opportunity to take beautiful pictures of the city, hiking to see the small waterfall, you can see the Kasbah Museum where you will be introduced to Chefchaouen history, the Spanish mosque or take a day trip to the Akchour Waterfalls and the Lord’s Bridge which are one of the most beautiful places in Morocco to see. After a day out, I recommend spending a lunch at Bab Ssour, a very beautiful place on the main square of the city where you will enjoy traditional dishes.
