Birmingham has at least 35 miles of canal, which is more than what is in Venice. The channel is a unique reminder of the great industrial revolution when they were used as busy waterways to transport iron, wood, coal, and other heavy materials. Almost all of the industries are gone or replaced by better ones that don’t require canal or waterways transportation. Today, it is a place for walkers, cyclists, tourists, and narrowboat owners to explore and enjoy the cool rides along with this peaceful and colorful piece of city waterways.
