Another thing Athens is Famous for is the Marathon. It includes the story of “Marathon story of Pheidippides” about a Greek soldier called Pheidippides, who ran from Marathon to Athens to deliver a report of the Athenian victory over the Persian Army in 490 B.C. The distance the soldier ran was about 40KM, thereby establishing the sporting event known as Marathon today.
