The SS Republic was once a sidewheel steamship first named Tennessee and USS Mobile for some time. In 1865, it was lost amidst the hurricane off the Georgian coast. It was reportedly carrying loads of silver and gold coins on its fateful journey. Click the next ARROW to see the next image!
