When they tell me to think of a dreamy medieval castle my mind always goes to Neuschwanstein castle. It is the very definition of a fairy tale and a marvel in the world everyone must see at least once in their life. The castle was ordered to build by Louis II of Bavaria, better known as the “Mad King”. You may have heard of him before, and it is that Louis II has been one of the most characteristic kings in history. He wanted to live in his own dreams and fantasies, and he even hated having to take over the crown, something that he had to deal with at just 18 years old and that marked the rest of his life. Luis II, lived in the castle of his father, Maximiliano II, in the Schloss Hohenschwangau, but he wanted to have his own castle and for that reason, in 1868 he ordered to build his own castle, right in front of that of his father, who originally It would bear the same name, but after his death he was baptized with the name by which he is known today, Schloss Neuschwanstein. Along with this, he also ordered the construction of the Herrenchiemsee Palace, on the island of Lake Chiemsee and the Linderhof Palace. Click the next ARROW to see the next photo!
