The Chester Cathedral evolved from a Benedictine Abbey, which was built in 1093. As such, the cathedral is considered to be one of the oldest churches in the UK. Make sure to explore the Cathedral Choir, which was built in the 14th century and features intricately beautiful carvings. Chester Cathedral is a Romanic and Gothic style Anglican place of worship that has undergone numerous renovations over the centuries. Construction began in 1093. Today, like the vast majority of cathedrals in the UK, it houses exhibitions and concerts other than traditional religious services. Currently one of their main projects that delights the little ones (and not so small) is the replica that they are building in Lego thanks to donations. The visit to this Cathedral is totally free (the will is accepted) and its opening hours to the public are: Monday – Saturday: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Sunday: 13:00 – 16:00. If you also want to climb the tower and see the sights of the entire city, there are two types of visits available to choose from: Hour-long tour: views from the top, lots of history, and the best bits of the interior, including a view of almost the entire length of the Cathedral. Half-hour tour: same views from the top combined with a little bit of history. PRICES: As I have mentioned, the visit to the Cathedral is free, but if you are interested in climbing the tower: One hour tour: £ 8.00 adults / £ 6.00 children Half hour tour: £ 6.00 (adults and children) / £ 20.00 families (two adults and up to three children).
