Within the entire Palermo region are at least 12 UNESCO sites, which is quite an impressive thing for any city in the world. The sites include churches, palaces, and other public places we already mentioned. Palermo is the reason why Italy is the country with the highest number of World Heritage Sites, which is why the Italians are so proud of the city.
