The Statue of Liberty is located in southern Manhattan, on a small island known as Liberty Island. Although we all know it as the Statue of Liberty, its official name is Liberty lighting the world. It was designed by the French Auguste Bartholdi in 1886 and was a gift from France to celebrate the centennial of the United States Declaration of Independence. It is full of symbolism: in her left hand, she holds a tablet with the date of the Declaration of Independence engraved on it. On the right, he holds up a torch, the light that illuminates the path to freedom. Under her tunic, feet and broken chains appear, also a symbol of freedom. Miss Liberty measures 46 meters, although, counting from the ground to the top of the torch, she reaches 93 meters. For a few years, the torch could be visited inside. Today, the only parts of the Statue that we can discover are the pedestal and the crown.
