Jubba and Shabelle are the two rivers in Somalia that have been permanently existing over time. The rivers begin in the Highlands of Ethiopian, mainly flowing southwards. The Jubba River flows into the Indian Ocean at Kismayo, while the Shabelle River in earlier times obviously used to flow into the sea close to Merca.
