Jacob Davis, a tailor born in Riga was the inventor of the denim jean. A housewife in the US where he was based approached him to make a pair of stronger trousers that would befit her woodcutter husband’s profession. He made the pants with duck cloths and it was loved by many, patronage became high and he could not keep up with demands.
