7The Shape Of Water

Suspense and Sicily have something for everyone. The Shape of Water is a page-turning mystery written by Andrea Camilleri and follows the Inspector Montalbano. The book is filled with an incredible description of the Sicily countryside and offers so many phrases in the Sicilian local dialect. Andrea Camilleri, who died today, is the author of a rich late literary work that took off with the edition, now twenty-five years ago, of the first novel in the series starring curator Salvo Montalbano, published when the Sicilian writer had already passed seventy years of age. “The shape of water” was the beginning of everything. Camilleri had no plans to dedicate a whole series of novels to the Vigàta commissioner, with whose name he wanted to pay tribute to his old friend Manolo Vázquez Montalbán. Montalbano’s success kept the character linked to its author until the end. Click the next ARROW to see the next photo!
