Machu Picchu is said to be the lost city of the Incas located on a mountain ridge over the Urubamba Valley in Peru. This is, probably, the most familiar symbol of the Empire of the Incans. The site has been designated as World Heritage Site in 1983, described as a unique testimony to the Incan civilization and an absolute masterpiece of architecture.
