2Bodiam Castle, England

Bodiam Castle is characterized by how part of it is submerged underwater and by its round towers, giving it a very specific and memorable appeal. Bodiam Castle is one of the best examples of medieval castles in England and to this day it retains its picturesque appeal with a moat and circular towers, as well as a gateway with twin towers. Despite its near-perfect exterior, the interior has not survived the test of time, yet there remains enough to represent the interior layout of the castle. East Sussex Castle was built in 1385 by Sir Edward Dalyngrigge, who deliberately built it for a defensive purpose. East Sussex Castle was built in 1385 by Sir Edward Dalyngrigge, who deliberately built it for a defensive purpose. Built in the fourteenth century, more as a symbol of power than to serve as a defense, this castle is currently considered one of the best examples of medieval fortress that exists, and that its interior is in ruins. Although it was built when England and France were facing each other in the long Hundred Years War, it was never attacked by enemy troops or suffered sieges. The castle was saved from demolition in 1829, thanks to the purchase by John Fuller of 3,000 guineas, a politician and patron of the arts and sciences. Click the next ARROW to see the next photo!
