This is the first castle in Kendal and features an impressive motte that rises up to 11 meters from the ground. No one really knows when it was built, although some suggest that it was constructed after the Norman conquest, around 1092. An obelisk was constructed on the castle’s summit on 1788, and it still stands today along with the motte. Click the next ARROW to see the next image!
