3Chester Roman Amphitheater

After learning about the Romans in museums, you’ll probably want to have a more hands-on experience. One of the best places to have this is the Chester Roman Amphitheater, which was constructed in the first century AD and is the largest of its kind in the UK. There were actually two amphitheaters on the site, one of which had a similar design to a structure in Pompeii. These are the Roman Gardens, that is, the Roman Gardens, and what remains of the Deva Victrix amphitheater. The Roman Gardens are nothing more than an esplanade that is just outside the walls, where the foundations and the lower part of the shaft with various columns resist. What remains of the amphitheater is only half of the old arena and the slope where the grandstand would have been located. Certainly nothing of the other world if we compare it with the vestiges found in many other places. Do not think that you are going to come across an amphitheater like the ones in Nimes or Arles. However, it serves to remind us of how far the Roman Empire came during its peak period. Click the next ARROW to see the next image!
