Very close to Venice, the historic city of Padua is home to the impressive basilica of San Antonio de Padua, which by itself deserves a visit. Other attractions are the Palazzo della Ragione, the fantastic Napoleonic Prato della Valle square, and the Scrovegni chapel, which preserves the frescoes of one of the Renaissance initiators, Giotto.
