For centuries, Venice was an independent republic governed by a Doge. At one time, the Doge decided to have this palace built to show his prowess and power as the ruler of a great country. Doge’s Palace was rebuilt by successive Doges, each of whom made interesting changes that make the palace even more beautiful as the years go by. Within the palace are areas like Opera Museum, Doge’s apartment, courtyard and loggias, where artworks are located for visitors to see. There are paintings, frescoes, and statues, all expressing the might of the golden age of Venice. The Doge is famous throughout the world as a first-class museum offering a huge collection of items that visitors and tourists can learn from and dig deeper into the ancient history of the world. Some of the most iconic artworks in the museum are The Lion of Saint Mark by Vittore Carpaccio, Ascent of the Blessed, by Hieronymus Bosch, and Neptune Offering Gifts to Venicem by Giovan Battista Tiepolo.
