We can not help it while thinking about Christmas, that one of the first things that come to mind are gifts! But who brings them to us? Three different characters that we explain to you next! The latest and most typical of Italy is the Befana. She arrives in the Epiphany, the night of January 5 to 6. It has pagan origins, but enters Christianity as an old woman to whom the Magi ask how to get to Bethlehem. According to tradition, they did not understand each other and the Befana rejected the invitation to accompany them to adore the Child Jesus. When she realized the missed opportunity, she prepared something to take the Magi and the Child, but she did not find them. In her search, she decided to give away what she carried to the children of each house she passed through, hoping that one of them would be Jesus, and that is where this Italian custom comes from! Click the next ARROW to see the next photo!
