This tradition has been around for more than a hundred years at Bonsall but the event that takes place at the Barley Mow is considered a revival of sorts. It used to be a race between two villages and is watched by many members of the community. Called the World Hen Racing Championship, this race requires spectators to be in total silence so as not to scare the chickens. Click the next ARROW to see the next image!
