We all know the famous Statue of Liberty which stands proud and tall at New York City, USA. What many might not know is that this gigantic gift was given to America by France, with love. The Statue of Liberty was a gift from France to the United States for the centenary of its independence on July 4, 1776. The French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi was in charge of giving the American country what would be his best-known statue in the world, It should not be forgotten that one of the parents of another of the most famous monuments in the world, Gustave Eiffel, responsible for the Eiffel Tower in Paris, was partly the one who built the Statue of Liberty, or at least the internal structure. The history of the Statue of Liberty tells that it was built to commemorate the independence of the United States and show it as a free country. The construction of the Statue of Liberty began six years before the centenary of this significant date, in order to grant the country this architectural marvel on the agreed date, although this did not finally happen.
