In 10th Century BC, colonists from Athens built Ephesus, which is an Ionian Greek city found in ancient Anatolia. This city was found in Ionia, along the Cayster River flowing into the Aegean. Ephesus was an essential focal point for early Christianity, which hosted as one of the 7 churches of Asia, apart from being a site of a huge graveyard for gladiators.
