4Windsor Castle, England

Built in the 11th Century, Windsor Castle is one of the oldest occupied castles in Europe. It is designed internally in incredible Gregorian style. Windsor Castle is one of the official residences of the Queen of England and one of the most famous castle in the world. You can visit part of the castle and see the impressive rooms that are in it. Visiting Windsor Castle with children is a good plan for those who visit London (and you have some time) or for those who are around Windsor. The first thing you should do is look at what flag is on the Round Tower. If it’s the Royal Standard, it means the queen is home! When we were there the queen was, enjoying her weekend in Windsor. Afterwards, we walked to the North Terrace, with some nice visits, to immediately reach the entrance of the State Apartments. These are the rooms used by the royal family for official events. They are not always open and you cannot take photos of them. We started by visiting the Queen Mary Dollhouse. It is a very large dollhouse created between 1921 and 1924 by the architect Edwin Lutyens. Take a good look at all the details, the house has works of art, books and even tiny (full!) Bottles of wine. We continue our visit to the State Apartments. You can do the route indicated as the Ceremonial Route and then the Historic Route to not miss any detail. These rooms are still used for official events. Click the next ARROW to see the next photo!
