When you say “Rome”, you probably immediately think of the Colosseum — and vice versa. This isn’t really surprising since the building has become the city’s iconic and most recognizable landmarks. It was inaugurated in AD 80 and was used as a venue for festivals, gladiator fights, theatrical performances, and other events. Visit it during the day to have a clear view of its architectural details, then come back at night to see its silhouette against the dark skies.
