The second highest mountain in the world, standing at 28,251 feet, has a nasty reputation when it comes to climbers, especially females. Since its peak was reached by the legendary Polish climber Wanda Rutkiewicz in 1986, five female climbers who try to climb it were killed. Mount K2, the ruthless killer of climbers, located in the northwestern part of the Karakoram Range, on the border of China and Pakistan, was created by the actitic activity of the Asian and Indian plate millions of years ago. It is the second highest mountain in the world after Mount Everest. This ruthless pyramid-shaped killer, with a stern topography with an immediate vertical rise from its base, is a witness to the disappearance of 11 climbers in an attempt to climb K2 in 2008. Attempts to climb the top of K2 were made. since 1902, but after many expeditions in 1954 the Italian team reached its peak. Most of the main climbing trails lie in the Pakistani area, where most climbers start climbing. However, the difficulties of climbing on this side are many, especially in winter. The topographic placement of the mountain, the lack of oxygen at high altitudes, the extreme storms with time of day extension, the very steep slopes covered unprotected from strong winds and the many avalanches of snow, are the reasons for many murders on the K2 mountain slopes. The failures of climbing the mountain in the winter, the numerous alpine accidents, have made it the most dangerous mountain in the world. Click the next ARROW to see the next image!
