Opened back in 1865 and ever since had become the centerpiece of arts and culture in Florence. Before becoming a museum, it has served as the office of a police chief and prison. Medici collections in the form of bronzes, medals, ivories, tapestries ceramics, waxes, enamels, and seals can be found on display in the museum. Visitors also love to see landmark works by artists like Michelangelo, Donatello, Verrocchio, Ghiberti, making it a truly rich museum with so much to offer.
