As a good art historian, I cannot stop recommending a visit to the church of Santa Maria della Vita. In it is one of the most beautiful sculptural works in the world. This is Compianto sul Cristo morto, a terracotta composition by the artist Nicolò dall’Arca. It is a sculptural set consisting of seven pieces made of clay and polychrome. They represent the moment in which Cristo Muerto is picked up by family and friends to be buried. The representation is absolutely dramatic. Click the next ARROW to see the next photo!
