Happening every Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday, this is an event where people of Ashbourne get together to play a game of football in the street. Dubbed as the longest game of football, this tradition is participated in by families, including children, as two teams are created to compete. There are stories that the first game was played with using a human head instead of a ball.
