1Eshima Ohashi Bridge (Sakaiminato, Japan)
The bridge, which connects the cities of Matsue and Sakaiminato (Japan), seems to go straight to the sky and suddenly rush down. Built at high altitude so that the fishing boats can go under, the structure is fortunately not as steep as it looks.
It is about one mile long – it has a slope of 6.1 percent on one side and 5.1 percent on the other. The Eshima Ohashi Bridge, also known as the Roundabout Bridge, completed in 2004, approximately 2 km long and slightly larger than 11 meters wide, with a height of about 40 meters, greatly facilitates the movement of fishing boats and vehicles. Looking at the many pictures of the bridge from the advertisements on the websites, you are horrified and think that it will be impossible to climb the vehicles at the top of the bridge. This is the only bridge in the world that has a peak, from where you can have wonderful views of the area around Lake Nakaumi and the cities of Matsue and Sakaiminato. To quench your curiosity and not trust the spectacular views of the bridge photos, you can schedule a visit to your trips, hoping there will be no traffic.
