This mountain, which stands at 20,814 feet in the Waywash Range in the Peruvian Andes is a very dangerous mountain to climb, even for professional climbers. It became popular through the book “Touching the Void”, which is an account of a torture-some ascent and descent of the mountain. Mount Siula Grande, located in the second longest mountain range in the world, in the Andean Peruvian range, is thought to have been created by the tectonic activity of the Nazca plate in the Pacific Ocean plateau of South America about 50 million years ago. It and many other magnificent but unforgivable peaks over six thousand meters covered with snow, are a supply of glaciers and numerous mountain lakes in the area. Although very dangerous to climb Siula Grande, as well as other Andes peaks, the attraction of climbers of different categories has turned to climbing it, as if they want to experience the living legend of two well-known climbers Joe Simpson and Simon Yates. The first ascent was made by Austrian climbers in 1936, but his fame increased after 1985 with the publication of the book “Touching the Void” and the film of the same title in 2003. There are many ways to climb the mountain, but they alter the effect of glaciers, making climbing difficult. Although the ascents of Mount Siula Grande are considered classic climbs for climbers, they are dangerous and can only be done by experienced climbers. Trying to climb Siula Grande by inexperienced climbers would be an unforgettable memory for him. Click the next ARROW to see the next image!
