Scopello is a village with fishermen’s houses on the trapanese coast in Sicily, the beauty of its beaches has made it one of the most attractive places in the area although for foreigners it passes completely unnoticed. A must on our “what to visit in Sicily” list. Scopello is a small and beautiful fishing village near Castellammare del Golfo, in the province of Trapani. It has little more than 100 inhabitants, but in summer it reaches 2000. The coast of Trapani is full of wonderful places like San Vito lo Capo with a huge beach of fine white sand very famous among Sicilians. Also, near it, the area of the Scopello coves, old tuna factories. The small Sicilian town of Scopello (from the Greek Skopelós, cliff) is located a few kilometers from the city of Castellammare del Golfo, in the province of Trapani. This unique village consisting of a few houses around a small paved plaza, stands on a cliff of reddish tones that faces the East. Click the next ARROW to see the next photo!
