Peggy Guggenheim was an American heiress who was a great art collector, supported contemporary artists of the 20th century, and was an engine to propel the art scene. In her own life, Guggenheim opened the collection to the public during the summer months and, in her later years, she donated it to the art foundation established by her uncle in New York.
