The country was known as the land of pirates, precisely at Anse Forbans (also known as Pirate’s Cove) on Praslin. The island was sought after by the pirates as a hiding place. It is also believed that there was a $160,000 treasure worth hidden by Olivier Levasseur. The treasure, however, is yet to be discovered.
