This might not be the Leaning Tower of Pisa, but indeed it is a copy that is half the size. This is situated at the sister city of Pisa, Niles. Actually, it is a water tower disguised as a building. It was built in 1934 and was renovated in 1996. The Leaning Tower of Niles is located in Niles, Illinois, and is similar to the Leaning Tower of Pisa. In fact, many speculate that Robert Ilg built the tower in 1934 to celebrate the 600th anniversary of the Pisa Learning Tower. It is half the size of the tower in Italy with a total height of 94ft, 28ft in diameter and tilts 7.4ft from the vertical position. The tower was built in a 22-acre park to hide the water tower that serves the two pools located within the park. It has exhibited signs of aging and requires constant renewal to keep it on its feet. The world’s best-known leaning tower has a twin sister in Illinois. It is located in Niles, on the outskirts of Chicago. Unlike the original, its inclination is intentional, precisely in homage to the Italian tower. Despite its similarity, the one in Chicago is 30 meters long, that is, half the original.
